County of Riverside Announcement on Redistricting

RedistrictingSteering

Every ten years, following the US Census, the County of Riverside goes through the reapportionment process in order to adjust for population growth.  The purpose is to insure that each supervisorial district is roughly equal in population.  In September of 2011, the Board of Supervisors approved a new set of boundaries for the five districts which resulted in some minor boundary adjustments to the Second District.  In order to see a map of the new boundaries please click here.  The two most significant changes include the shifting of the unincorporated community of Highgrove from District 5 into District 2, and the shifting of a portion of the Arlanza and La Sierra Heights neighborhoods in the City of Riverside from District 1 into District 2.  Other minor changes took place in South Corona where a small portion of the “Retreat” development at I-15 and Weirick Road was shifted from District 2 into District 1.  The “Retreat” Specific Plan is now entirely within the First District.
